Award Recognizes FusionOne’s Leadership in Mobile Technology Innovation
MENLO PARK, Calif. – El Dorado Ventures has awarded the 2009 Bourne Technology Award to FusionOne, a leading provider of mobile content portability services. The Bourne Technology Award is presented annually by El Dorado Ventures to recognize companies that have deployed unique technology with demonstrated customer impact. The award is named for Steve Bourne, Chief Technology Officer of El Dorado Ventures, who is internationally known for his work on the UNIX system while at Bell Laboratories, where he designed the popular UNIX command language known as the “Bourne Shell.”
With its products, FusionOne has built the foundation for the world’s largest social network, protecting and managing over 1.5 billion mobile phone contacts. FusionOne products have been successfully deployed on numerous carriers worldwide, including Verizon Wireless, TELUS, Bell Mobility, and Cellular South.
FusionOne recently announced that it had been awarded the patent for mobile phone wireless backup and synchronization. This announcement, along with additional announcements of several key technology and content partnerships, further reflects the company’s commitment to innovation in mobile technology.
“We are thrilled to receive this award,” said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president, marketing for FusionOne. “Mobile phones now are many things−they are address books, cameras, game devices, media players, and much more. We are working to achieve full Mobile Content Portability where consumers should be able to easily share their mobile content with Internet services and transfer their content between devices, regardless of what phone they own.”
“We are pleased to recognize FusionOne’s industry leadership in Mobile Content Portability with this award,” said Steve Bourne, Chief Technology Officer, El Dorado Ventures. “With its advances in multi-service sync technology, and its ability to scale to tens of millions of users FusionOne has shown that it is the inspired leader of this category.”
